John Shofi brings more than 20 years of government experience in key leadership roles with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), in-depth experience at Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and a widespread knowledge of operations to provide clients with invaluable insights for matters involving multiple investigative and compliance issues.

Mr. Shofi is a Managing Director for the Guidepost Solutions Washington, D.C. office. Shofi has provided subject matter expertise and training in the realm of U.S. employer compliance with federal immigration laws, including in-depth reviews and remediation of I-9 forms and E-Verify processes. Most recently, Mr. Shofi has provided speedy solutions to challenges such as unintentional employment of underage workers, instances of sophisticated identity fraud, and human resources teams’ developmental needs with suspect documents and Form I-9 nuanced procedures. He has assisted many individuals across the globe with successfully resolving U.S. visa obstacles and general immigration/customs challenges. He has also conducted U.S. and international due diligence investigations for individuals, companies, and law firms.

Prior to joining Guidepost in 2017, Mr. Shofi served in the federal government at the Departments of Treasury, Justice, and Homeland Security. He was involved in many high-level strategic initiatives at ICE Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and DHS headquarters. Mr. Shofi held roles as a Senior Advisor, Chief of Staff, and Director in various capacities, including the Office of Professional Responsibility. During his law enforcement career, he was actively engaged in multiple law enforcement efforts, including countering immigration document and benefit fraud, transnational criminal organizations, and human smuggling and trafficking. Mr. Shofi also worked at the Internal Revenue Service where he conducted multiple tax compliance investigations, and in private sector roles in corporate finance and management. He holds degrees from Pace University (BBA) and The Johns Hopkins University (MS).
