Dr. Justin Ransom serves as Administrator of USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service, appointed by the Secretary of Agriculture in July 2025. He leads FSIS in ensuring the safety and proper labeling of meat, poultry, and egg products, driving modernization and science-based policies to protect public health.
With over 20 years of leadership in food safety, sustainability, and supply chain management, Dr. Ransom previously directed sustainable food strategy at Tyson Foods and held roles at McDonald’s and OSI Group. His career spans production agriculture, global supply chains, and public service at USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service. Dr. Ransom completed his undergraduate education at Texas Tech University and earned both his Master of Science and Ph.D. in Animal Science from Michigan State University and Colorado State University, respectively.
