T.A. Hawks leads Monument Advocacy’s Food, Ag and Conservation Practice Area and works closely with the Appropriations group at Monument as well. A former Staff Director of the Senate Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry Committee and previously Chief of Staff, Legislative Director and Legislative Assistant to former Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman, the late Thad Cochran (R-MS), T.A. has built the practices he’s associated with since joining Monument. While on Capitol Hill, he helped negotiate and pass the 2014 Farm Bill, an omnibus bill that touches every part of rural America. Prior to this, he was the primary interface with the Senate Appropriations Committee for Cochran and worked with his committee staff on matters of concern to Mississippi and the nation on issues as varied as defense, transportation, agriculture and water.

On Capitol Hill, T.A. was a participant in the Stennis Congressional Staff Fellowship, a bipartisan, bicameral leadership development experience, and has served as a mentor in the Stennis Emerging Leadership program. He also participated in the Partnership for a Secure America study group, the Bipartisan Chiefs of Staff group, the Council on Foreign Relations Bipartisan Chiefs group, the Bipartisan Legislative Directors group, and currently co-chairs the Senate Republican Former Chiefs political donor group.

T.A. earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
