The AVMA has recently updated its soon-to-be-published Guidelines for the Humane Slaughter of Animals. Dr. Cia Johnson, director of AVMA's animal welfare division, and Dr. Robert Meyer, professor emeritus of clinical sciences at Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine, will discuss how the Humane Slaughter Panel evaluates different slaughter methods and the upcoming changes to the guidelines.
