Dan Thomson is a third generation bovine veterinarian from Clearfield, IA. Currently, Thomson practices veterinary medicine through animal health and welfare consulting to feedlots, processors and retailers through the U.S. beef supply chain. Dr. Thomson previously was a professor at Iowa State University and Kansas State University. Dr. Thomson’s research program has been granted over $36.3 million resulting in over 100 peer-reviewed publications on cattle health and welfare. Dan has delivered nearly 1000 invited talks on bovine production, well-being and medicine globally. Thomson serves as an advisor for McDonald’s Corporation, chairs the Animal Welfare Committee of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, is lead counsel for Dine Brands, serves on the Animal Welfare Advisory Board of Tyson Fresh Meats and the JBS Animal Welfare Advisory Board. Thomson is the founder and host of Doc Talk on RFD TV, a nationally aired beef cattle health veterinary television show entering its 13th season (over 600 episodes) reaching 45 million homes world-wide. Dan is married to his wife Cindy and they have 4 daughters: Kelly, Katelyn, Tory and Sarah. Thomson’s favorite hobbies are following sports along with fishing and hunting birds with his pointers.
