Jordana Zimmermann is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Anatomy and Physiology at Kansas State University, working under the supervision of Dr. Eduarda Bortoluzzi in collaboration with the Beef Cattle Institute. Her research focuses on advancing objective approaches to assess pain in cattle, with an emphasis on both acute and chronic pain associated with procedures such as castration and thermal stress. Her work also explores the development of predictive models to support data-driven decision-making in animal health and welfare. Prior to her doctoral studies, Jordana earned her master’s (2023) and veterinary (2019) degrees in Brazil, where she was actively involved in research and teaching. Raised on a small farm in southern Brazil, her background continues to shape her commitment to improving livestock welfare through applied research.
