Megan Winkelman is a junior at the University of Wisconsin – River Falls studying Dairy Science with a pre-veterinary medicine emphasis. Megan started working as a program technician for the Humane Handling Institute and a student researcher with the Animal Welfare lab in September 2024, under the mentorship of Dr. Karly Anderson and Dr. Kurt Vogel. Her research focused on the assessment of humane handling enforcement actions issued by FSIS. She will be attending the University of Wisconsin – Madison School of Veterinary Medicine in the fall of 2027 as part of the FAVeMedS to pursue a degree in food animal medicine.
