Jamie Burr is the Chief Sustainability Officer for the National Pork Board. He leads the organization’s six-member sustainability team comprised of public health, animal science, animal welfare and environmental experts tasked with advancing the pork industry’s sustainability goals and metrics announced in 2022, with a focus on protecting the producer’s freedom to operate.
Before joining the Pork Board in March 2023, Jamie worked in a variety of sustainability and environmental roles at Tyson Foods for 24 years. Jamie has served on several state and national policy workgroups and industry committees, including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Farm, Ranch, and Rural Communities Federal Advisory Committee. He is currently a commissioner with the Natural Resources Division of the Arkansas Department of Agriculture.
Born and raised in the pork industry, Jamie started showing pigs at a young age and worked in a sale-barn that was owned by his family from the 1950’s through the turn of the century. Jamie earned two degrees from Missouri State University, including a Bachelor of Science in Agronomy and a Master of Natural and Applied Science degree in Soil Science.
