Sid Mehta is a global leader in sustainable food systems, driving transformative change at the intersection of climate, nature, nutrition, and business. As the Founder and CEO of Greenworks Inc. and Co-Founder of Nihkhah, he spearheads innovative strategies that bridge vision and execution—mobilizing coalitions, shaping policy, and delivering real-world impact. With over 21 years of experience, Sid is recognized for his ability to align high-level sustainability goals with practical, scalable solutions, positioning him as a trusted advisor to governments, industry, and academia.
His expertise spans strategic communication, advocacy, innovation and partnership development, having led food system engagements at major global forums, including UN COPs, the UN General Assembly, Climate Week NYC, the Committee on World Food Security, SXSW, and the UN World Food Forum.
Sid served as Executive Vice President at Emerging Ag Inc., a renowned international consulting firm specializing in communications and public affairs within the agriculture, food, and health sectors. In this role, he spearheaded private sector engagement at the United Nations, helping clients develop strategies and tactical solutions aimed at enhancing food security, minimizing food loss and waste, and fostering sustainable food systems. His tenure at Compass Group Canada saw him manage multi-million-dollar food operations across 2,500+ locations with a managed revenue of $400M, and he was instrumental in leading corporate sustainability and innovation efforts.
Previously, Sid led the Business Service Group at Simon Fraser University (SFU), including its award-winning food program that serves more than 30,000 meals daily. During his tenure at SFU, he founded the Climate Action Labs, which mobilized scalable, real-world solutions to address critical climate challenges. His influence extends across North America as he now leads climate action labs at the North American College and University Auxiliary Services Association, representing over 5 billion meals served annually.
Recognized as a SDG 12.3 Champion—a high-level, invitation-only coalition of Ministers, Presidents, and CEOs from around the world dedicated to halving food loss and waste by 2030—Sid brings his voice to a global movement advancing SDG 12.3 through leadership, advocacy, and public-private partnership
In addition, Sid serves on the Board of Food for Climate League (FCL), the Industry Advisory Committee for the Climate Bonds Initiative, the Advisory Board of several start-ups, the Academic Working Group of Food Tank and several industry working & policy working groups. He is also an adjunct faculty member at the University of British Columbia’s Faculty of Land and Food Systems, where he inspires the next generation of leaders in sustainable food systems.
