Ruaraidh (Rory) Petre is the Executive Director of the Global Roundtable for Sustainable Beef, a position he has held since 2012. Over the past decade he has overseen the growth of the sustainable beef roundtable network to include 24 countries with a common commitment to making sustainable beef part of a thriving food system. Rory’s previous experience includes work on farming systems in India, veterinary development in Pakistan and Afghanistan, and managing a range of farmer support and development projects in Africa. He served as regional director for Solidaridad in Southern Africa as well as International Livestock Programme Coordinator. He studied agriculture in Edinburgh, specialising in livestock production, and received a Masters of Science in tropical animal production and health.
